Richard Scheltema works as assistant professor on structural proteomics at Utrecht University. The overarching theme of his research is the development and application of mass spectrometry approaches for the detailed characterization of proteins in the context of their structure and their interactions to other proteins and DNA/RNA. The laboratory has developed novel mass spectrometry assays, chemistry, and data analysis software, which are not only reported in peer-reviewed articles but also commercialized through industrial partners and are worldwide in use. His work has been disseminated in 50 peer-reviewed publications, which have been referenced >6000 times and include papers in top-ranked general science journals like Science, Nature journals, PNAS, ACS Central Science, JACS and Angewandte Chemie.
